Presents new therapeutic targets for treatment of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors.
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are associated with low survival rates because of nonspecific chemotherapeutic agents. The authors sought to identify genes and genetic pathways implicated in MPNST development by conducting a tissue-specific Sleeping Beauty (SB) mutagenesis screen in mice. Numerous new genes and pathways were identified (like FOXR2), while existing players in MPNST development were validated (like TP53).
